You…yes, you!

Listen up!

The best piece of advice I have ever given anyone was that you should never let anyone tell you that you’re not worth it. No-one in the world has the right to make you feel less than who you are. So tell them to go fuck themselves if they try it.

You are the only you there will ever be, and that is something pretty special. We all take pride in different things, but we sure as hell ought to be proud of being ourselves. Because no-one else can do it quite like you can. You are the only person who can see through your eyes, so get out there and see! No-one else can live your life for you, so live it and screw what people think.

If other people choose to spend their lives watching you live yours, then your life must be pretty damned fascinating. We all have a limited number of years on this planet, so why do we spend so many of them fretting about what other people are looking at. Surely what we turn our own eyes to is far more important.

Never let anyone hold you back. Always reach for the highest point you possibly can. And never give up on yourself. Because you can go far, achieve things you never thought possible and are absolutely, 100%, totally and utterly worth it.

The next time you sit on a horse, if you are so fortunate, sit tall and proud and know that you are exactly where you belong. Because to sit on a horse is an honour and a privilege. And you deserve it. Every moment that horse is with you, every response they give you, every time they look at you, you have earned that purely by being yourself. Forget about whether you are being watched and look at what is in front of you. Close your ears to the remarks of people too ignorant to understand anything outside of themselves, and draw yourself close to what your horse is telling you.

When you feel like you just can’t do it anymore, like everything you’ve worked for is pointless and like you’re never going to achieve anything, go and sit with a horse. Don’t say anything, don’t even touch it. Just sit or stand with it. And wait. Because those bad feelings will go. And you will remember exactly who you are and just how brilliant you can be.

Maybe it’s time I started taking my own advice…
